Oh hell

Haven't blogged for ages. Too disgruntled to do so. And that applies to my other blog too.

We have plain packs coming into Ireland and France bans e cigs in public places. (please vote) And Scotland bans smoking in cars with kids. And god knows what else I don't know about.

The anti smokers are OUR problem too - not just a smokers problem. I think smokers have been very badly persecuted in general. Smokers have been trying to modulate the attack on them for years. and if they had been successful, this anti-vaping push would not be happening. If proper ventilated smoking rooms had been provided for smokers, and smokers had been seen to have the right to persue their habit - somewhere - then vaping in public would be no issue now.

Many lies, twististics and crap is still offered to us by The Anti Tobacco Industry about smoking. If smokers try to expose them, they are "fronts for the tobacco industry". In the ENVI podcast, on Thursday, it was suggested at one point that the intense lobby from vapers, was a "front for big tobacco" seeing they were now entering the electronic cigarette market. They came for the smokers. Why did we think we vapers would be different?

The tide of anti-smoking busy bodies who pollute truth and muddy facts for their own batty ends - to rid the world of smoking (and that includes anything that LOOKS like smoking) seems so ugly and filthy, and so unstoppable, I have temporarily lost heart.

Thank goodness for people fighting the vaping cause.

  1. Nice post and I completely agree.

Sometimes I do wonder though if it was unfortunate that personal vapourisers were called "electronic cigarettes" as the word cigarette carries with it so many negative connotations.

Thanks to the effective social engineering of governments around the world, whenever the general public hear the word cigarette, they instantly think of cancer and disease. It's not surprising therefore that they also think the same when they hear the word e-cigarette.

The best way to tackle anti-smoking zealots who are now encroaching on our "turf" is to simply educate the general public. If the public are informed the zealots will soon lose there voice on e-cigs.

I think you are doing a get job educating people about the facts regarding e-cigs. In fact, your YouTube channel was one of the first vaping channels I subscribed to when I started vaping five months ago and your videos were a great source of encouragement to me.

  2. Oh, Andrew you are right. What a terrible pity cigarette is in the name. But to me, another problem is that the e cigs most people know ARE ones that look like cigarettes. People say "What's THAT!" when they see my little ego and tank and they are surprised my set-up doesn't look like the e cig they have seen in pictures. The other thing that worries me, is that Big Tobacco is now in on the act. Right from the start I had misgivings - and they haven't gone away.

And another thought is that nicotine was so demonised by the anti-smokers, it is now going against us. People cringe at the word "nicotine". I think things are well screwed up at the moment.

I'm so glad my YouTube channel helped you - that's nice to know!

Absolutely spot on! It's classic "first they came for" stuff. Those who like a drink of alcohol are slowly seeing exactly the same effect of kowtowing to prohibitionists, they simply never quit so appeasement should never be an option. They have to be fought on every front, whether one cares for the substance or behaviour or not.

Despite warning about this for years, I'm one of the few smokers who doesn't have a quiet chuckle at others suffering the same fate because there lies a path which just helps these evil people even more. Divide and conquer, I think they like to call it.

    1. Thank you for your comment Mr P. It disturbs me too that Vapers abrogate their responsibility/duty? to defend smokers, becoming anti smoking, instead of brothers in arms. I know this happens because of the delight they feel in being what is called an "ex-smoker"."Ex-smoker" is a title made desirable by society now - where as, once, no one really gave a shit.

In a way vaping has divided us.

It's pretty peeving now to find we are banned, just like the smokers we claim not to be.

      Awkward situation really. Innit?
